Getting started
Anamor is a file-over-app tool. Your mind maps are not locked inside the app. Each one is saved as a standard .opml file in a folder you choose.
- On first launch, choose a folder to use as your workspace.
- Tap New Project to create your first mind map.
- Keep the folder in iCloud Drive to sync your work across your devices.
You can move, copy, or back up these files from Finder or any other app. Drop an .opml file into your workspace folder and it appears in Anamor.
Frequently asked questions
How do I create a new node?
Look at an existing node and double-tap with your thumb and index finger. A child node appears, ready for you to type. To create a new central node, look at empty space, double-tap, then choose New Root from the menu that appears.
How do I move a node?
Pinch and hold a node for about a third of a second. It grows slightly to show that it is ready to move. Then move your hand to place it anywhere in your room.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Your mind maps are saved as standard OPML files in the folder you chose, and we have no access to their contents. If you keep that folder in iCloud Drive, it syncs through your own private iCloud and nowhere else. If you delete the app, your files stay in the folder.
Can I work across multiple devices?
Yes. Keep your workspace folder in iCloud Drive. If you edit the same mind map on two devices, our merge algorithm brings both sets of changes together instead of making you choose one.
iCloud sync takes about a minute on average, so a change you make on one device appears on the other after a short delay. If you do not see an edit right away, give it a moment.
How long can I use Anamor for free?
You get a 14-day free trial with no restrictions. When it ends, Anamor becomes read-only. To keep editing, there is a single one-time purchase, with no subscription and no recurring charges. If you used Anamor before this version, you keep full access at no cost. See Trial and purchase.
What if the app crashes or stops responding?
Force-quit the app and open it again. If the problem continues, email us with your visionOS version and we will look into it right away.
User guide
Dashboard
The Dashboard is what you see when you launch the app. It has three panes.
- Files (left). The mind maps and folders in your workspace, shown as a tree. The toolbar has New Project, New Folder, Sort, Collapse all, and Refresh. Tap the workspace name at the top to switch to a different folder.
- Live preview (center). The selected mind map appears as a small, living 3D model. Tap Open to step into it.
- Inspector (right). Details about the selected file.
- Managing files. Long-press a file or folder for Rename, Duplicate, and Delete. Deleting removes the file from your workspace folder for good. It does not go to the Trash, so it cannot be restored afterward.
- Settings (gear icon). Your account, purchase status, user guides, the tutorial, and support.
The immersive space
Open a mind map and a 3D space opens in front of you. You decide what you see behind it.
- Leave it as it is to work with your actual room visible: your desk, your notes, the people around you.
- Turn the Digital Crown and one of Apple’s immersive environments fades in. Your mind map stays exactly where it was, now floating in that environment. This helps when you want to shut out distractions and focus.
- Switch between the two at any time with the Digital Crown. Your mind map is never interrupted.
Nodes and links
Everything here works with one hand, left or right.
Nodes
- Create a root node. Look at empty space, double-tap, then choose New Root.
- Create a child node. Look at a node and double-tap. You can start typing right away.
- Select. Look at a node and tap once. The node highlights and the node menu appears.
- Node menu.
- Collapse / Expand (only on nodes that have children). Fold a branch away to clear your view.
- Edit Text. Change the node’s title. Works with both the virtual keyboard and a physical keyboard.
- Edit Note. Open the note editor. See Note editor.
- Create Link. Connect this node to another node that is not its parent or child. This connection is called an Insight Link.
- Node Style. Pick one of six colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) or reset to the default.
- Delete Node. Shows how many child nodes will be deleted with it, then asks you to confirm.
- Move a node. Pinch and hold for about a third of a second. The node grows to roughly 1.2x to show that it is ready. Its children move with it.
- Change a parent. While moving a node, bring it near another node. That node grows and shows a cyan ring. Release, and the node snaps into place with a sound under its new parent.
Links
- Select. Tap the diamond in the middle of an Insight Link to open the link menu.
- Link menu. Delete Link (asks you to confirm) and Close.
Scaling and rotation
These gestures use both hands and act on the whole cluster connected to a central node.
- Scale. Look at a node, pinch with both hands, and move your hands apart or together.
- Rotate. Hold with both hands and turn them like a steering wheel. This lets you see nodes at the back without walking around.
Wrist menu
The wrist menu is always available on the inside of your left wrist.
- Undo / Redo. Step back or forward through your changes. Dimmed when there is nothing to undo or redo.
- Exit. Close the 3D space and return to the Dashboard. Anamor asks “Exit Project?” first so you don’t leave by accident.
- Open Dashboard. Open the Dashboard window while staying in the 3D space.
Note editor
A node holds a title. Longer writing goes in its note. Open a note with Edit Note in the node menu.
Window and tabs
Notes open in their own window, separate from your mind map. You can keep several notes open as tabs and move between them. Each tab is named after its node and has its own close button. Closing every tab closes the window. Your mind map stays open the whole time.
Writing
- Format toolbar. Bold, Italic, Strikethrough, and Link.
- Slash commands. Type
/on an empty line to insert a block. The blocks are Body, Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, Bullet List, Numbered List, Blockquote, Code Block, Image, Video, Audio, Divider, and Table. - Markdown. Type
#,-,1.,>, or```and the line turns into that block as you type. This is handy when you would rather not open the slash menu. - Numbered lists. Lists renumber themselves when you delete or move a line. If a list starts at
3., that starting number is left alone. - Indentation. There is no depth limit.
Tables
Choose Table from the slash menu. Drag rows and columns to reorder them. Column widths adjust to their contents on their own, and cells support inline formatting too.
Images, video, and audio
- Images. Add them from Photos, from a file, or from a web address, or paste a screenshot straight in.
- Video. Shows a preview in the note. Tap it to play in its own window.
- Audio. Plays in a bar inside the note.
Files you add are copied into .anamor/media/ inside your workspace folder, and the note keeps only a short reference to them. If you move the folder or open it on another device, everything is still there.
Code and links
Code blocks have a copy button in the top right corner. Inline code and code blocks use different background colors so you can tell them apart.
Tap a web link and it opens in a browser inside the app. Only one link can be open at a time, so close the current one before opening another.
Keyboard shortcuts
With a physical keyboard:
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| ⌘B / ⌘I | Bold / Italic |
| ⇧⌘X | Strikethrough |
| ⌘K | Link |
| ⇧⌘↑ / ⇧⌘↓ | Move the current line up / down |
| ⌘Z / ⇧⌘Z | Undo / Redo |
Saving
Notes save as you write. They live inside the mind map’s .opml file rather than in a separate file, so moving that one file takes your notes with it. Nodes that have a note are marked, so you can spot them at a glance.
If you edited the same note on another device, Anamor tells you once the synced version has come in.
Tutorial
Open Settings and choose Open Tutorial for a practice space that never touches your real files. It has seven steps: create a child node, create a root node, select, link, move, change a parent, and use both hands. You can come back to it at any time.
Making the most of the space
- Place things freely. Nodes can go anywhere in the full 360 degrees around you. Wherever your eyes and hands reach is a valid spot.
- Use depth. Keep core ideas close and supporting material farther out, so importance reads as distance.
- Fold what you’re not using. Collapsing the branches you aren’t working on clears the view.
- Group by color. Giving related nodes the same color makes clusters visible at a glance.
- Change your backdrop. Try your real room when you are spreading ideas out, and an Apple environment when you want to focus on one.
Trial and purchase
- Installing Anamor starts a 14-day free trial with every feature unlocked.
- When the trial ends, Anamor becomes read-only. Your mind maps and notes still open, and you can still move and scale them, but editing is locked. Your files are untouched.
- To keep editing, buy Anamor Pro once. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and there is nothing further to pay.
- Changed devices or reinstalled? Open Settings and tap Restore Purchases.
- If you used Anamor before this version, you keep full editing access at no cost.
